What is The Grotto?
The Grotto is a stunning natural sea cave located within Bruce Peninsula National Park near Tobermory. Over thousands of years, the waters of Georgian Bay carved out this incredible limestone cave, creating one of Canada's most photographed natural attractions.
Known for its crystal-clear turquoise water and dramatic rock formations, The Grotto often surprises visitors who say it feels more like the Mediterranean than Ontario.
Incredible Turquoise Water
The water's vibrant blue colour comes from the limestone bedrock and exceptional water clarity of Georgian Bay.
Spectacular Scenery
Towering limestone cliffs, rugged shoreline, and panoramic viewpoints make The Grotto a paradise for photographers and nature lovers.
Swimming & Exploration
Adventurous visitors can carefully climb down to the cave area and enjoy the refreshing waters. Please note that the water remains cold throughout most of the year.
Hiking Opportunities
The Grotto is reached by a scenic hike through forested trails and rocky terrain, making the journey part of the experience.
